Derek Holser is a Washington attorney who recently relocated to Virginia Beach to join the team at Lentz & Associates. Admitted to practice in 2006, he currently oversees our Washington clients and works on a variety of federal legal issues, including nonprofit formation and compliance, copyright and trademark registration, and IRS tax negotiations. Derek is the Managing Attorney at Stephen D. Lentz & Associates.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Derek worked in the nonprofit lobbying sector, where he helped exempt organizations obtain grants and earmarked funding from state and federal government agencies. He also assisted exempt organizations with the process of applying for funds from private foundations. Derek also has experience as the executive director of an exempt organization, and he serves on several boards. He is vividly aware of the challenges that exempt organizations face, and he is passionate about enabling them to better do the great work they do to build a better society.
Before working in the nonprofit world, Derek was a school teacher and a high school basketball coach. He continues to instruct in a local college and he has taught as an adjunct professor at Regent University School of Law. Derek brings a well-rounded approach with real-world experience to the practice of law. He and his wife, Leah, are the proud parents of three beautiful children. They are thrilled to call the Commonwealth home!
